We all knew I'd do it at lease once

It's such a simple little task and I managed to screw it up.

Okay, the story goes like this :
Yesterday morning I was standing at the bus stop waiting for my bus. The 490. The 480 arrived and one of the people about to go on informed that the 490 already came. So I think to myself, "Okay, no sweat. I'll take the next 490".

I plant myself on the bus bench and read the calender section of a left over newspaper. I don't know if because the sun was in my eyes or because I had a very long night at work, but I hoped on the wrong bus.

I didn't even notice until I was heading towards the freeway then realize that I was on the 480 and that the 480 goes striaght to Downtown Los Angeles. Ekk!

I got off at the closest exit. It ended up being a good 3 miles away from Target. (Sigh.) So I walked home... 6 miles.

I was so not happy about it. I was this poor, mentally exhausted soul who walked down the street with eyes fixed on the floor. ( I don't know I always stare at the floor. It is such a bad thing to do. Not very street smart of me, that's for damn sure.)

The only thing that kept me going was the thought of my check next week.

Mmmm.... paycheck.

Mental Spending

It just about kills me to wait for my check next week!

So many things that need to be bought, made, sent out, cleaned etc..

I simply cannot wait to get my grumby hands on Muse's "Absolution". I have three tracks so far, and they are simply divine. Great, yummy stuff here gang, I suggest that you give them a shot. They're songs are have their own vibe.

Music Meme - Week 36

"Holiday Wishlists"

It's officially the holiday season. Time to shop and be shopped for. So in the spirit of the busiest time of the year, the mambo will be about musical gifts. What album do you want the most for the holiday?

Absolution - Muse
The Forbidden Zone
Dark End of the Tunnel - Oingo Boingo
Laugh - Terry Hall
POP! 20 Hits - Erasure
Shine like it does (The Anthology (1979-1997) - INXS
Nude on the Moon (The Anthology) - B 52's
Greatest Hits - Falco
Blown to Smithereens (The Best of the Smithereens) - Smithereens

Are you buying any of your friends or family music for Christmas? What are you buying them?

I have given up buying any one any type of music/dvd with a list. The list is key. Without it, I find myself walking the local Tower Records, second guessing their likes and dislikes. (It's not any fun, kids.) What was the best musical gift you ever received? (Doesn't have to be for the holiday season)

I'm a music junkie and for one year at Christmas (I'm thinking 1994-1995)I coned my parents into buy nothing but cd's for me. I made them a list of my musical desires and handed it over to moms and pops, and I ended up with various CDs under the tree waiting for me to rip open.

Are there any holiday concerts you want to attend?

I actually wanted to go to Kroq's acoustic X-mas this year because Muse was playing. But my boyfriend refuses to go see just one band and spend 30+ dollars. (Sigh.) It's just as well, since it's gonna look like I'll have to work that night anyways.

Other than CDs what music or music related gifts are on your wishlist?

The Wall live in Berlin - Roger Waters DVD
The Forbidden Zone DVD

Do you keep a wishlist at Amazon or any other site for your musical wants?

Of course. I find it's sometimes easier to keep tracking of your musical desires.. plus you can always go back and delete it, if your not into that d any more.

It not like anyone ever buys me anything from the list. :(

Blog Explosion

I have such a Love and HATE relationship when it comes to Blog Explosion.

In it's original, simple form -- it's brillant. To introduce would be readers to a cross section of blogs and to make readers actually look at them before leaving in 2 seconds because the layout isn't super pretty. (Damn, we all such vain creatures, aren't we? It all about looks rather then content. Sounds a lot like when we meet people for the first time.. it's always looks then personality.)

But lately.. I have been getting annoyed and tired of the whole thing. I sit here.. mindlessly in front of my computer reading (Yes.. I actually read other people's blogs in those 30 seconds.) various blogs.

College blogs..
Political blogs..
Personal Blogs..
Story Blogs..

And I can never find find that diamond in the rough. That blog that has beauty to match it's substance. A blog actually worth bookmarking and checking back with a decent supply of curiousity. Don't get me wrong, I have bookmarked a few, but when you think of the number of political blogs that I had avoid to get them, is it worth it?

Here is a few examples of blogs you'll run into a lot....

The Political blogs -- aren't for me. I personally hate politics. Nothing personal, I assure you. So I find it hard to read those. I much prefer a personal connection. And I think they would find themselves terribly bored here at my blog too.

The Mommy blogs -- are great, but sadly at this moment in my life I can't relate. I love children and I relish the day I can have them, but for now, this 23 year old's biological clock is stuck permanently on snooze.More power to the ladies that are rasing their kids up right and have the time to blog. I hope to have that ability later in life. I'm very unorganized.

The Military Wives Blogs -- it's so hard for me to them. I feel for each and everyone of you out there. You are dealing with something so hard, that most of try to act like it doesn't exist just to make it through the day -- while you all face it every minute of the waking day. Much love for you all. And I hope that all your loved ones come back safe and sound.

The Religious Blogs -- Um, Yeah. Not for me. Ever. Sorry. It just won't work.. you have your strong views and I have mine, and somewhere we are just going to clash.

Bleed Like Me .. New Garbage Album

I'm starting to realize that this is turning into more of a "music" related blog then a regular, run of the mill "blog".

But I can't help it... I LOVE music!

And I have yet another music related story to report.

It seems like Garbage weren't happy with the name they came out with for their fourth upcoming album.

It was originally stated to be called "Hands on a Hard Body", which to me, had a lot of promise. They have opted to go far the more dark "Bleed Like Me". In addition to the name change, some of the track listing has changed as well.

My two cents.. From the track listing, you get feeling that the vibe of this entire album is going to be one of slight depression and perhaps anger. Going back to the sounds of the melancholia of "Beautiful Garbage", which is can be both a bad and good thing.

A bad thing because as much I LOVE "Cup of Coffee" & "Drive you home".. I don't know if I could possibly take any more heart hearting songs and I would hate to see them lose that "Take no prisoners" mentality. That is when Shirley Manson really shines.

Thankful musical memes

Let's do a BD Musical Meme, shall we...

If you could thank one artist/band for their contribution to your life, who would it be and why?

What?! Only one. Well that seems rather bias to me. I have too many.

Depeche Mode - For being the musical soulmate. (Ironically my soulmate loves Dm too.)
Violent Femmes - For being my teenage angst when I need it.
Garbage - For having the guts to put that brillant, strong, alpha female Shirley Manson - up front and center where she belogns.
Oingo Boingo - For being the dark and humorous side of my oh so twisted personailty.
Danny Elfman - For proving that you can be rock star turned composer. For being the first to break down the wall for everyone else.
Lovage - For being back the excellent that is Mike Patton (Faith No More) into my life. Also for introducing me to lovely stylings of Jennifer Charles (of Elysian Fields.)
Rob Dougan - For being absolutely brillant. A hidden tresure that I have taken a shine to. He is brillant beyond all words.. and damn, he is such a nice guy too.
Evanescence - Thank god for Amy Lee. I adore her vocals.. the intesity that I haven't felt in a female singer since Poe or Shirley Manson.
Neil Young - For being the rebel among so many wannabes.Keep on rockin' Neil.
Johnny Cash - For being a rebel among the conservative country community. You are greatly missed.
Roger Waters - For being the glue that gelled Pink Floyd together. I haven't felt the same vibe since you left, way back when.
Eminem - For having the balls to speak politically in a smart way. You expressed what a lot americans were feeling. Whether for or against he beliefs, at lease he said something.

What albums are you thankful that you purchased or heard this year?

Rob Dougan - Furious Angels
(Fucking Brillant.)
Evanescence - Fallen.
(Aww... to be a teenager again. This album would my favorite 4 years ago.)
Massive Attack - 100th Window
(I haven't bought this quite yet, but have heard most of the tracks... tasty stuff.)

If you wanted to tell someone thanks in song, what song would it be?

I haven't got a freakin' clue. My brain just turned to mush right now.

What musical things are you thankful for?

For the new wave being re-invented by the newer bands of today.
Rob Dougan's brillance. I know I already talked about him... guys, he is that great.

Plus..
He's beautiful.

Just when I thought birdzilla was gone

Oh good lord.

I just went to fridge to top off my late night cup of joe with some milk, when my eyes spot "birdzilla" placed in middle shelf.

Jesus! Didn't we just have turkey.. where did this one come from? My brother informs that there was a sale at Albertsons for turkeys and my dad bought one.

He must die!

At lease freeze, not thaw the turk for a later day... not for tomorrows meal. Grrr.

Roger Waters .. Where's my Check?

Did ya hear the one about Pink Floyd being sued for "Another Brick in the Wall" from the young children who sang on the track?

Hey, Teacher! We All Need Some Compensation By Kate Holton, Reuters

LONDON (Reuters) - A group of former London schoolchildren who sang on Pink Floyd's 1979 classic "Another Brick In The Wall" have lodged a claim for unpaid royalties.

Twenty three teenage pupils from Islington Green School secretly recorded vocals for the track, which became an anthem for children with the chorus "We don't need no education."

On hearing the song, the headmistress banned the pupils from appearing on television or video -- leaving them no evidence and making it harder for them to claim royalties -- and the local school authority described the lyrics as "scandalous."

The album sold over 12 million copies and the single became number one in Britain and America.

Royalties expert Peter Rowan told Reuters he was appealing to a music royalties society on behalf of one former pupil and was working with other members of the class. He said he was still trying to contact the majority of the group.

Hey Kids!! It's been a good 20+ years since the album had been released... you think waited long enough?!

It said somewhere in the rest of that article, that each of the 25 children (now grown adults) would receive around 200 pounds each. Is 200 pounds really worth the price of suing? I don't know about that.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for these kids since all they did was basically chant on the chrous. On a famous track too. They can bring this album with pride and show it to their own kids and say "You know, that chrous part -- that was me!"

For me that would be cool enough -- maybe that's because I love "The Wall".

Bridget Fondas Pregnant

Have you heard....

I have to admit to being a tad bit jealous. I want to be Elf shagged too. :(

BRIDGET FONDA and her composer husband DANNY ELFMAN are celebrating after discovering the actress is pregnant with her first child. The latest member of the famous Fonda clan is due to arrive in February (05). Fonda's husband is a founder member of rock legends OINGO BOINGO, but he's most famous for scoring films like BATMAN, SPIDER-MAN 2 and THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

I feel somewhat psychic because I knew that she was going to become pregnant after they got married. I just knew it.

Either way.. I'm happy for both of them and wish them all the best. And I'm wondering why I know of people who due to give birth in February. Odd.. Very odd.
